Hello From Mae Sot

SE ASIA TOUR: And we are off!

It is 5:26am and I woke up from a cough attack. I will attempt to go back to sleep soon but I have so much on the brain. From the previous post you saw that with the generosity of so many fam and friends we raised enough funds to join the Little Lotus Project. Well today is the day, kids! We bone out to begin our mission.

It has been an amazing year. I just got back Sunday from my second year at Art Basel Miami, rocking my largest wall piece ever with fellow AOS members and fam and now I’m about to fly out to make that long journey to Mae Sot, Thailand for two weeks to work with kids.  The craziest thing is that back in January, I added to my visualization board Art BAsel 2011, Little Lotus Project and “Get to paint around the world and give back at the same time”. How fucking crazy is that shit?!!! Maybe I’m a little extra emotional because I’m sick but I am super blown away when I take a moment to pause, step back and take stock of my life.  I am not a civilian, I have never been and will never be. Though some of my family members may think I’m a failure for leaving my well paying full time job over 5 years ago, I seriously beg to differ. I have amazing people in my life who support me and love me unconditionally, I get to do what I love, and I’m able to give back to this world that has given me so much.

Woes, Purdy (J*RYU), Daniel Zana and myself leave today to Mae Sot because of the generosity of so many of you and we cannot thank you all enough. The list of supporters is super duper long but you know who you are. After the two weeks and because of the generosity of Gino at Toy Art Gallery, we will be able to continue our SE Asia tour to Singapore, Hong Kong and Philippines for signings, live painting gigs and hopefully some wall smashing. As I even write this shit right now, it FN boggles my mind!

Please know that we will rep our amazing community of artists and family to the upmost. Luckily Daniel will be covering it all on film so that you will be able to experience a bit yourselves. While we are out there will do our best to post as much as possible to the AOS Blog found HERE.

Thanks for the continued support. Hope you all have a happy holiday and an amazing 2012.

Abrazos! See you back in the states in 2012!

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT! WE DID IT TOGETHER!

Thanks to our fam, friends, fellow artists, fans and new supporters for helping us reach our goal. We are overwhelmed by the support from our amazing international community. We are blessed and will do our best to rep you all to the fullest. Check back here for updates as we will try to post as much as possible while we are on our mission (internet access willing). For updates on our journey please visit our blog HERE.<3

Dissizit, Stop It, Wonder-full & LA vs WAR and more

Aloha. As I write this from Oahu, I think of how very blessed I am. I’m not rich, not balling out of control, shit sometimes I’m thinking of where my next paid project is coming from. I’m just a solopreneur on that hustle and grind doing what I can to pay the bills. I am blessed with mi osito, fam bam and amazing opportunities to work with talented people from all across the globe.  Gracias Universe. Ok let’s get into a few fantastic events going down. (I apologize in advance for any typos and grammatical errors. Doing this on the go.)

FRIDAY

Dissizit 8th Year Annivesary Party
I’m here in Oahu to celebrate the 8th year anniversary of the Dissizit Brand. It goes down big time with this sick line up: DMC (Run Dmc) Rakaa/ Babu (Dilated Peoples) Money B (Digital Underground) Scott Knoxx, Phoreyz and Monarx (which includes the homie Aaron “Woes” Martin, he’ll be on the mic kids not painting, crazy!) Its going down at SOHO in China town. SATURDAY

STop It Group Show at Munky King
I’m honored to be a part of this group show 2nd year in a row that is curated by the great Cooper (Coopster) Berella going down at Munky King. Its Coopster’s 12th B-day Celebration and proceeds from sales go to 2 organizations, Gays and Lesbians Initiating a Dialogue for Equality and Chime Institue. I will unfortunately not be able to attend since I’m out of state.  The line up of participating artists is crazy. For more info go HERE. Huge thanks to Coopster, Johnny and Munky King Crew

Wonder-Full LA6
The homie Asad along with his Footlong Development crew brings another installment of Wonder-Full with DJ Spinna and Mona Lisa at the Echoplex. DJ Spinna will be spinning songs sung, written or produced by one of my all time faves, the magical Stevie Wonder. I created one of the funky Stevie t-shirts design you can choose from that night. Go get your major groove on. More info HERE.

Friday-Sunday

RECAP: Yo Gabba Gabba at Melt Down

The only thing I had planned for this Friday night was to head to a b-day party at Club Nokia for a hot second. Somehow this night turned into what Kevin Smith would say was “a bucket full of win”. Impromptu plans with friends I haven’t seen in a minute had us start our evening at Melt Down Comics for the “Here is My Art , A Yo Gabba Gabba Gallery Show.”

Good timers were had by all, young and old. Loved the free drinks + dance juice. The show is up until the 17th.

Here’s a few flics with the rest of them HERE.
